Network services and consulting

Our gas network is available to all network users on a non-discriminatory and transparent basis. Gas is transported on the basis of the Pipeline Act, Art. 13, and the general terms and conditions of the association agreement concluded between the Association of the Swiss Natural Gas Industry (Verband der Schweizerischen Gasindustrie – VSG) and the industry.

Our services as balance area managers

As balance responsible parties, we play a central role in the liberalised gas market: we conclude balance group contracts with balance responsible parties based on the model contracts of the KSDL (Coordination Office for Transmission). These market participants manage their gas procurement abroad and are responsible for ensuring that their nominations match their customers' actual energy consumption as closely as possible. A tolerance band is available to each balance group manager to compensate for differences in quantities. The size of the tolerance band is measured in relation to the allocated total capacity.

Further services

In addition, we provide important services in energy data management:

As balancing zone managers, we define clear requirements for metering data suppliers. These are central to the correct and transparent determination of energy volumes within the balancing zone.

The requirements include in particular:

  • The timely provision of measurement data

  • Compliance with the specified data formats and transmission channels

  • ensuring data completeness and quality

  • Traceability and traceability of the data provided

We coordinate and monitor the continuous and error-free flow of measurement data within the balancing zone. In doing so, we check compliance with time and formal requirements, identify deviations and initiate corrective measures if necessary.

We provide transparent and reliable energy data. This data forms the basis for daily balancing.

Network customers receive support with technical and contractual issues relating to the use of the gas network.
Thanks to in-depth expertise and efficient process design, the advice is practical, solution-oriented and in line with the applicable framework conditions.
This makes an active contribution to secure, transparent and market-driven network use - in the interests of a stable and fair energy market.

Fair, transparent and non-discriminatory

On the platform ksdl-erdgas.ch, grid users can find all the important information: from the legal basis to contract models and minimum technical requirements. It also describes how to apply for grid access and which documents are required.

Open network access promotes competition in the gas market and supports a secure and cost-efficient transport. We provide network users with reliable support throughout this process - from the initial contact to implementation.
