Third-party construction projects

All construction projects in the vicinity of high-pressure pipelines are subject to strict legal requirements. According to the Pipelines Act and the associated ordinances, construction work within a protective strip of 10 metres on either side of the pipeline requires a permit. This authorisation must be obtained from the Federal Pipeline Inspectorate (FPI) - by us as the concessionaire and pipeline operator.

Building safely in the vicinity of high-pressure pipes

A cantonal or communal building permit alone is not sufficient. Construction work that is less than 10 metres away from pipelines or could affect the protected area requires approval from the Federal Pipeline Inspectorate. We ask municipalities and cantons to inform applicants of the additional requirements at an early stage.

As a licence holder or pipeline operator, we are in close contact with the ERI and coordinate the approval process in the interests of all parties involved. We contribute our many years of experience.

A strict adherence to the procedure enables the safe and efficient realisation of construction projects and protects the existing infrastructure.

Safety checks along the pipeline route

Regular route inspections ensure that hazards to our pipelines are recognised and rectified at an early stage. If unauthorised construction work is detected, we examine the situation carefully and take the necessary measures depending on the case.
